David Fishman’s paintings of western life successfully combine the sophistication of the east with the sensibilities of the west.

David studied Fine Art and Illustration at the School of Visual Arts and the Art Students League in NYC. He worked for many years as an illustrator, for Random House, Simon & Schuster and other publishing houses as well as for major Advertising and Design Agencies across the country. His need to pursue his own art led him to relocate to Nevada in 1991.

David’s instinct to surround himself with the colors of the desert, the changing light on the mountains, the sun setting over the Sierras have taught him more about art and color theory than any school in the East.

Fishman’s paintings capture a timeless West; the West that can still be found if one knows how to look. He evokes a spiritual image that touches the viewer in a dramatic and personal way. His portraits depict not one person, but in a larger sense, many people we have all known. His subject matter, whether Native Americans, Rodeo or Western landscape fill the observer with a poignant sense of the passage of time as well as a sense of the continuity of life.

Fishman’s paintings reflect his technical skill and artistic craftsmanship, combined with the energy and emotion of the timeless American West.
